It is often said that Scouting inspires young people to do their best. At the weekend one British Olympian with a link to Bedford Scouts did just that.
Etienne Stott gained his gold medal in the C2 Canoe slalom event at Lee Valley, with Tim Baillie from Nottingham. Etienne’s first paddling was with St Andrew’s Scout Group on the River Great Ouse. He developed his slalom skills with the Viking Kayak Club.
Royal Mail has commemorated Etienne’s gold medal by painting the post box in St Paul’s Square gold and by issuing a special stamp.
