A group of Explorer Scouts from Bedford travelled to Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre to celebrate the centenary of Scouting in Iceland. The gallery above shows some photos taken by the Panthers Explorer Scout Unit during their travels. We’re sure they will have lots of stories and memories to share with others in Bedford. The National Jamboree Iceland 2012 like many Scout Jamborees even had its own song. There are English words to it, but how many Panthers can sing the Icelandic version?

Let’s make a fire

Let‘s make a fire and honour our history
the one hundred years that have passed
our future is bright, although it‘s still a mystery
we can be proud of our past

When we all sing along
nothing can go wrong
and this magical moment will last in our memory
this is our unity song

This place is our home, it is where we feel free
and where we want to be
Together we’re more than just you and just me
Scouting’s a big family

Empowered by nature we breath in Earth‘s energy
The elves and the trolls
are our friends
We sing our own song and we sing it in harmony
The voice of the vikings transcends

When we all sing along
nothing can go wrong
and this magical moment will last in our memory
this is our unity song

The magic continues to light up our lives
and to lead our way
Our passion, our vision that in our heart thrives
This is where I want to stay

You can listen to the Icelandic version here. 2012 Jamboree Song
