Scouting for Talent: Gilwell Park staff have a go, Putnoe Cubs are having a go, who else?

If you haven’t heard about it then you are missing a trick. There’s a competition on at the moment to find some Scouts with talent… I know that Putnoe Cubs are having a go, anyone else in Bedford District?

Do you know the next Katherine Jenkins, or One Direction? In April, The Scout Association launched a UK-wide talent search to discover creative talent within the Movement.

We have partnered with The Cell Productions to launch the brilliant Bright Sparks Project; a competition for young creatives who want to be in front of, as well as behind, the camera. And the exciting end goal is to produce a music album alongside UK artists and music professionals, due for release this autumn.

Scouts across the UK will be invited to submit an online entry to the Bright Sparks Project for an opportunity to record vocals with well-known artists and get involved in a variety of exciting roles such as choreography, styling and video direction.

Resources are available via the website, plus there will be lots of advice on how to create and promote your Group’s entry. You can also follow the latest Bright Sparks goings-on via Twitter and Facebook.

For your chance to star in Bright Sparks:

  • Choose a song to be performed by your Group or individuals within your Group. More than one entry per Group can be submitted. Design and create your music video, assigning roles in front of and behind the camera eg lead vocalists, dancers, camera person, and director.
  • Create your music video and then upload to YouTube. Submit a link of your video to the Bright Sparks Project. Once vetted by HQ it will appear on the Bright Sparks leader board.
  • By promoting your video, it will receive more views. The more views it gets the higher it will appear on the Bright Sparks leader board. Using this as a guide, a panel of industry experts will decide which 9 to 12 individuals or Groups will take part in the album. The hope is that all entrants whether successful or not will be invited to sing backing vocals for the album.

The staff team at Gilwell Park had a go – watch their video below.
