Scouts asked to be prepared for everyday adventure with Great British Brekkie

Many of us know the impact of a bereavement on our lives, imagine what it is like for a child. Winston’s Wish is a charity working in the UK with children who have been bereaved. Recently they got in touch with Bedford Scouts asking if any of us would like to take part in their Great British Brekkie campaign this February. As Scouts we all know the benefits of a good breakfast before heading out for some everyday adventure.

Take a look at their video below to see what they got up to last year.

Host your own Great British Brekkie

Why not host it during one of your meetings to help us support children and young people who are learning to live with the death of their mum, dad, brother or sister.

There are so many different things you can do, some ideas from last year include:

  • Mad Hatters Tea Party – put a breakfast twist on the quirky tea party idea, get inventive with you breakfast items.
  • Inviting friends and parents in for breakfast foods served by the children
  • Breakfast Games – race your friends in a traditional egg and spoon race, set up a tomato coconut shy, how high can you toss your pancake?
  • Collecting sponsorship to sit in a baked bean bath

Thousands of Brekkers joined together in February last year to bring the Great British Brekkie back and thousands of pounds were raised for Winston’s Wish.  A breakfast revolution!

There were fry ups with families, coffee with colleagues and even baths with baked beans!! Sound like your cup of tea? Don’t miss out in 2014, sign up now.

From the 10-16th February 2014 Winston’s Wish is asking everyone to hold their own Great British Brekkie. This doesn’t have to be expensive or time consuming; it can be anything from a traditional full English to a good ol’ cuppa and toast. Let your imagination get boiling.

Get together with your family, friends, colleagues or school, to join us and help raise (tea)pots of cash for bereaved children.

To find out more information and to get your Great British Brekkie pack head over to the website and pop your details in the form and an Information and Sponsorship pack will wing its way to your email
